Sleep Well
02:50
|
|||
Return to the places where
you have no concern
Leave the front door open
Let the lamplights burn
See the trees are growing
By the river flowing
Now let's close the book
Take a breath and take a look
The past is not so dangerous these days
Broken hearts painted over with sunshine
Nightmares put on their coats and walk away
When you hold her hand and walk by her side
You don't always have to fight
For your years and strange ideas
If you fail, that's alright
Your life is worthy of some tears
Here you are in Copenhagen
Here you are, stirred, not shaken
The birds are settling, the lakeside brimming
The future is bustling, the music is loud
You have my permission to sleep well tonight

Fake Man
02:05
|
|||
I'm a fake man faking it to make my way
In my fake clothes faking it through the day
At least I'm not just a fake to everyone else
I spend most of the day faking myself
Faked myself to get a job
Making smoke and mirrors
Fooling others
Helping them to be fake like me
Faked my way to lay the lady
She's also fake but less than me
She's in my arms but I'm not there
I'd like to run my fingers through her hair
Yeah fake it till you make it
And make it till you break it
Never make it go away
But I'm true when I'm sleeping
Try to meet me when I'm sleeping
Try to make it go away
Everyone respects me
Everbody likes me
They say that I'm authentic
They want learn my tactic
They say that I'm insightful
They want to be more mindful
Learn to be fake like me
Yeah fake it till you make it
And make it till you break it
Never make it go away
But I'm true when I'm sleeping
Try to meet me when I'm sleeping
Try to make it go away

Daydreamers
02:34
|
|||
Daydreamers
We used to be daydreamers
We called the shots
Found the spots
To be more than alive
We took the trains
Freed our brains
Tore a hole in the sky
Daydreamers
We used to be daydreamers
We used to reign
In the rain
Used to soak to our bones
We used to side
with the night
used to bask in its glow
Daydreamers
We used to be daydreamers
We didn't deal
with the real
It had no hold on us
We made the most
of our time
we were in no rush
Daydreamers
We used to be daydreamers
We were in touch
with so much
we had spiralling arms
We were two minds
one kind
In nostalgia town
I took the train
for a walk
down memory lane
I caught a grain
felt the pain
saw a glimpse of the flame
We spun the days
went our ways
Into different times
We spun the days
went our ways
Into different times
Daydreamers
We used to be daydreamers

At The Lakeside
02:28
|
|||
There's a blessed union on the street
They wear their flags upon their skin
Every Friday night
at the lakeside
they are fighting wars for us
When you look around their evening rites
They are not my kind and not your kind
This is their our, this is their time
And their ghettoblaster play this city's song
Would it make me better
to be one of them?
Oh how the music makes them fly
See them fade into the sky
Every Friday night
The creative minds
They are winning ground for us
|
||||
5. |
||||
Under clouds, under trees
in the tones of old songs
Closed bars and abandoned cars
Shooting stars in my heart
It's something I possess
and which possesses me
Stolen roadsigns and darkened fields
The dust under my heels
Everything is a beautiful lie
Everything except the night
I've been here a hundred times
Here I was born, here I'll die
Time eclipsed
Time warped and rewound
Once I thought that I'd changed
Thought I'd become someone else
Be my word, be my dream
Be my moon, be my beam
Be the soil of my homeland
And the fabric of my sky
If you can see with my eyes
You can walk in my night
Until the grass grows above us
And the wind sings our names

Parade of The Past
02:26
|
|||
In a place with a thousand windows
And not a single door
They say that people have lived there
But not you and I
Many-splendour, expanding, multiplying
All in silence, or in sound that repeats
No longer restrained by our squares
No longer restrained by our circles
No longer restrained by labour
No longer restrained by relations
Shining, enduring and vast
The parading of the past
Here in the city we stride
By the sidewalk-cafés at night
Casually being what we are, unspeakable
In a bus through Copenhagen, not you and I

Streetcats
03:19
|
|||
I am a waif with a ragged heart
But the cats they are my friends
When I roam on the streets alone
They're my hope and they're my home
Jumping from the garbage cans
Or hiding under cars
Every cat has got a sense of art
And a cat flap to my heart
Hey cat! Don't you wanna talk to me?
Hey cat! You know I'm not gonna hurt you
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street
Absinthe, coffee, beauty, wine
I'm always drinking too much
With a spoon of cool and a potful of lost
I'll be walking the night because I must
Across the corner and there she stands
It's a black and white romance
She retreats when I advance
It's an enigmatic dance
Hey cat! Don't you wanna talk to me?
Hey cat! You know I'm not gonna hurt you
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street
Yeah I'm looking for love in an empty street
And I know who's gonna make my slob life complete
You may think that it's quiet but the streets are alive
It's a celebration under the moon
I should be finding a bride, I should be telling lies
But I hate the clubs and I hate Friday night
The cats are on my side
we're in league with the night
You are wrong and we are right
Sometimes they come
And sometimes they run
It's a love that must be earned
Calvino concurs
the feline fur
is the softest fur on the Earth
Hey cat! Don't you wanna talk to me?
Hey cat! You know I'm not gonna hurt you
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street
Just trying to spread some cross-species love on the street

Song No. 7
03:26
|
|||
I can't reach the old songs anymore
I can't reach the old books
And what I want to say
I'm not going to say it because I can't
My life is not about working for money
My life is not about projects
My life is not about good food or beer
My life is not about you
Twenty-seven years and I'm still just kidding
Sometimes happy and sometimes sad
Not even an illusion to follow
Who am I to be singing you songs?
My life is not about freedom or war
My life is not about politics
My life is not about believing, achieving
My life is not about you
The kids that I'll have when I've given up
Will grow up to have kids when they've given up
You could walk around this lake and wonder why
But then again why not?
My life is not about birthdays and weddings
My life is not about happiness
My life is not about blue skies or railways
My life is not about you

The Chestnut Tree
03:38
|
|||
You turn your head slowly, you remember a voice
You eyes move across the old garden
There are leaves in the forest, there are tiles on the pavement
Everything stands much too still
As the light brings the silence
As the light brings the word
They are building a new place in the city
They are running their saws through its bones
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree
We sit on the hill and talk until sunset
A thousand ways to waste our youth
We sit far above the veins of the world
Where the bile of the ages runs
A thousand years of blood
a thousand years of bones
the wailing, the praying
the cities burned down
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree
A black cat comes and gives me its love
A black cat comes from the heart of the street
These walls are decaying, there are patches of grass
Rising in the cracks, spreading in the voids
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree
And the sun sets on the chestnut tree

On the crooked tree a squirrel climbs
Looks at me with anxious eyes
Its shadow moves among the leaves
Stops to look then cracks a nut
The squirrel watches me pass by
The squirrel looks me in the eye
Beneath the tree the water's still
soft gleaming willow shades the ducks
three ripples flow into the lake
feathers brush the bright green leaves
A duck watches me go by
A duck looks me in the eye
Far down below the rhubarb's arch
a beetle makes its lonely way
Across the earth towards the water's edge
Climbs a bump then stops in its tracks
The beetle watches me stand by
The beetle looks me in the eye
In this little patch I watch the sky
As the crickets sing the sun by
In the tall grass they sit prepared
In the tall grass they sit aware
The grass watches me forget
The grass grows around my head

I woke up in my room
And started to dream
about the cup of instant coffee
I would make myself when I got out of bed
I lay in my disorganized sheets
And flipped through old Facebook updates on my phone
Turned out someone I don't really know did something or other sometime lately
And I wonder what's my world going to be like after this?
An hour later when I got out of bed
Cleared my couch of clothes so I could sit
And look out of the window at the windows across
Lamps and teapots in the windowsills
still and empty because there's no one home
And the coffee was even better than I'd dreamed
Spent 15 minutes finding the right song for this morning
But when I put it on I had to go pee
It didn't matter cause I knew it by heart
So I sang along from the bathroom
Then I went out the door, and it was starting to get dark
I didn't care about my hair, just felt the cold blue air
And all the people coming home from work together
People on bikes, people in cars
People with hats and people in coats
Like a big procession down the roads
In the grocery store you might be anyone
But the weird things people buy
Makes you worried
because you are what you eat
And coming home with my paper bag
It's already dark
But I don't want to turn on the light
Because the music sounds better when you lie on the floor
And there's nothing to see but slow shades
And then I have these little dreams that are just for me
That I take out of their box in a moment like this
I'm a dying breed in a beautiful town
And the paintings on the walls begin to talk to each other
As evening passes into night
